St. Augustine School Alumni


Perhaps St. Augustine School’s moved since you attended. Maybe you have fond memories of the Oblate Sisters of Providence, who worked in our school for so many years. Who could forget Fr. John Mudd, Fr. Ray Kemp and some of the other priests who have worked in our parish over the years? Here’s some information on our school’s history.

It might be that you’ve moved out of the Washington area and don’t come back to visit Ward 1 as often as you’d like.

“The Oblate Sisters of Providence provided the foundation for pretty much everything I do. I was able to write my name by the end of kindergarten. I could form compound sentences and paragraphs by the end of the first grade. By the end of the eighth grade, we knew our faith. We understood the faith behind the questions and answers in the Baltimore Catechism. The nuns of that era had one focus – to teach young black children how to read, write and know the faith.”
